We're having a great time in Room 17. Miss Hockly made a movie showing some of what we do. We hope you like it as much as we do.
We are a class of 14 five-year olds from Glen Innes in Auckland city. We hope you enjoy our blog as you find out what we love to do, and what we are learning.

Last Day of 2021
What an amazing, wonderful day we had on the last day of 2021. Only five children arrived in Room 17 today, but they had a fun-filled day.
The biggest blessing they all had, was to receive a large gift from Mrs Harris (a friend of Mrs Shirley's). Enjoy our short video of the occasion.

Self Portraits
Today, the children who were at school took home their self portraits. One they painted at the beginning of the year, and the other one was painted this month (December). I think they all did an awesome job!

This term's Inquiry is: Ta tatou Koreroro, Ta tatou Kowhiringa. Our Voice, Our Choice. We will be learning ways to use our voice in a positive, kind way within the many groups that we belong. We belong to Church groups, sports groups, cultural groups, and family groups. We need to learn how to make our voice heard, and how our voice, and the choices we make, make other people feel good about themselves.

Welcome Back!
Here we are at the beginning of Term Four. Oh My Goodness! Where is the year going? And...we're back learning online! That wasn't in our plan, but we're good at 'Just rolling with it'.
I hope everyone enjoyed the two weeks of holiday, even though we couldn't go to the places we'd usually go to, or do the things we'd normally do during a holiday. I hope that you enjoyed simply being with your family, and having fun, relaxing times with them.
Did you watch the School's Immersion Assembly this morning? If you did, you would have seen all the Teams sharing what they would be learning this term. Here is the movie that Team One made to show a bit about what we are learning this term. Enjoy!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
It's the last day of Term 3. Even though our term was a bit unexpected, we all just 'rolled with it'. Thank you to the wonderful tamariki that turned up to our Team and Class Meets, and to those who completed online learning and shared it with me. You are all superstars.
And...a huge thank you to the Mums, Dads, Nanas, Grandads, and older brothers and sisters who helped our lovely children to complete online tasks. Your input has been soooo appreciated.
Enjoy having a bit of a relax for the next two weeks, and, providing everything goes as planned, I will see you back in class on Monday 18th of October. Woo Hoo!!

Making a Poi
On Tuesday, Ruth and her Mum made a poi. Here's a short movie showing them working together. Nice job, Ruth and Mum!
Wacky Wednesdays
Team One are having a Wacky Wednesday on each....Wednesday, of course! :-). Today we all dressed in our pyjamas and brought out soft toys to our Meet. Everyone looked so relaxed, and the variety of toys was awesome! Great job Team One. I look forward to seeing what next Wednesday will be like.
Here's the teachers from our last week's Wacky Wednesday when we dressed up with wacky hair, hats, and clothes. I love Miss Squire's glasses, and Mrs Shirley's Mickey Mouse ears.

We are blessed!
Oh my goodness! Today was a VERY exciting day for Team One.
Students from Kings College in Otahuhu came to our school to deliver sports equipment that they bought using money they made by having a bake sale. (Phew! That was a long sentence!)
Mrs Shirley's daughter was one of the students who came. She and her friends baked muffins, cakes and biscuits, and then sold them to other students at their school. All the money they made, the used to buy us:
lots of small balls some big balls
2 balance bikes a basketball hoop
a couple of bouncy hoppers an outdoor play kitchen and.....
an outdoor soccer goal
WOW! We are going to have so much fun playing with all the equipment.
THANK YOU SO MUCH students at Marion Bruce House.
We are sooooo happy!Wednesday, 31 March 2021
Is this the Easter Bunny?
Today we had a visit from a much-loved member of Mrs Forbes' family. Their Giant Flemish rabbit, called JoJo. He was huge! We all got to give him a pat, and some of us brushed his very soft fur. Mrs Forbes brought the leash they use with JoJo, and he had a little hop within our circle of people.
Thanks, Mrs Forbes, for bringing JoJo to visit. We loved seeing him.

Did Someone Say Pizza?
Today was also Pizza Making Day! Yep - you heard right. We made pizzas. Little ones. But they were tasty. We put sauce on the bottom, and had the choice of ham, pineapple and cheese to put on top. Most people put all three toppings on, while others chose put only one or two toppings on their pizza. Whatever we chose, we loved making, and eating, our own little pizza.
I wonder what we'll make next time!
